Here at SisterDuet we like to share with you the good, the bad, and the ugly of beauty products. This post here can be categorized as somewhere between bad and ugly.
I kept seeing this pic on Pinterest:
So I went out and bought this:
Then, I painted my nails and they looked like this:
Ooh, ahhh, so shiny and pretty!!
But not for long... I painted them Saturday evening and by Sunday afternoon I had some serious chippage. boo.
Not just chipping... The polish near the tips was all cracked and ugly. Especially on my index and pinky fingers and thumb. So sad.
Monday morning I woke up to even more chips! My polish chipped in my sleep! What??! And it didn't really look shiny anymore.
By the end of Monday my nails were a ratchet hot mess. No bueno. Insert sad kitty face. So it had to come off just barely 48 hours after applying.
Please excuse my cuticles (I'm a picker) and the weird lighting. The flash really helped highlight just how awful my nails looked.
I was super excited to try out these products as anyone who has known me for any length of time knows my obsession with the Red Carpet Manicure at home gel polish system, so I was hoping this would be a good dupe to get gel- like results with regular polish. The RCM color library isn't limited by any means, I believe there are 72 colors, but that is nowhere near the amount of colors available in some of my fave brands- essie, OPI, Wet n' Wild, Sally Hansen, etc. Whomp whomp. Chalk this one up to a fail.
Do you have a base and top coat combo that you swear by? Has your nail polish ever chipped in your sleep??! Share your stories! We love em!
**Nails were painted with Essie DJ Play That Song.
